HEART CHECK-UP BEFORE PASSOVER

Passover is a time for self-examination. The Bible warns against taking the cup unworthily.
Here is a reminder we ALL need to examine our lives, making sure they measure up to Yahweh’s will!

In 1 Corinthians 11, we find a command recorded by Paul to do some self-reflection before we partake of the Passover, a self-examination: Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Master, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Master. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Master’s body, 1 Corinthians 11:27-29.

An examination is worth little unless it contains an answer key. We need a reference or yardstick, to compare our findings. When we try to measure up to our Passover Lamb, we find ourselves grossly lacking. How then can we possibly avoid being unworthy to partake of the Passover? Read Paul’s words carefully:  For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace, Romans 8:6. He concluded, That if you shall confess with your mouth the Master Yahshua, and shall believe in your heart that Yahweh raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved, Romans 10:9. Paul’s solution? Believe in our beloved Messiah!

We Need Help to Pass

We read in the Scriptures that Yahshua said to His chosen twelve, With desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer, Luke 22:15. Can we be worthy to partake of the Passover? It is a set-apart time of purification, both physically and spiritually. Here, in the first scriptural month of the year (Abib), we experience new growth, putting away whatever corrupts us. It is important at this time of the year to consider carefully every point of doctrine, every point of attitude and every point of our character in order to ensure that each point is of the Messiah (as defined in His word), and not of man. Paul warned Timothy, They will hold to an outward form of Elohim-life character, but deny its power. Stay away from such people, 2 Timothy 3:5.

We must analyze and inspect the way we worship our Creator in order to get rid of the old yeast so that we may be a new batch of dough, 1 Corinthians 5:7. Only then will our lives be an agent of true worship, in spirit and in truth (John 4:23), and only then will we be able to take the Passover worthily. Anything less than that may not be acceptable. However, Yahweh gave us a Perfect Example to follow and without Him, we cannot pass the exam alone. Through Yahshua, all things are possible. We are not worthy, but Messiah in us makes us worthy through His spirit. So let us all examine ourselves this year before Passover, as we bring our sins to the throne of mercy, asking for forgiveness, reforming our lives, and then, by the grace of Yahweh, we may eat of that bread and drink of that cup, 1 Corinthians 11:28.
